How We Rank Prices

P2B Transparency Notice — EU Regulation 2019/1150

1. Primary Ranking: Total Landed Cost

All price results — both domestic and cross-border — are sorted by total landed cost ascending. Total landed cost is calculated as:

total_cost = product_price + shipping_estimate
  • Product prices are shown in both the merchant's local currency and EUR (converted using the latest ECB exchange rate).
  • Shipping estimates are flat-rate figures from our internal table and are clearly labelled as estimates. They are not real-time carrier quotes.
  • Only prices that have been observed within the past 48 hours are shown. Stale prices are excluded from all results.

2. Partner Merchant Placement

PriceHunter has commercial relationships with a small number of partner merchants. Partners are identified by a "Partner" badge in the price list.

Within a price tier — defined as any group of results whose total landed cost is within 2% of the cheapest option in the tier — a partner merchant may appear before a non-partner merchant.

Concretely: if the cheapest offer is EUR 68.00 and a partner offers EUR 68.80 (1.2% more expensive, within the 2% threshold), the partner may appear first.

Guarantee: A partner merchant is never shown at a price that suppresses a genuinely cheaper non-partner. Both prices are always visible. A non-partner with a lower total cost that falls outside the 2% tier will always appear above the partner.

This limited partner promotion is how PriceHunter generates revenue, enabling the platform to remain free for consumers.

3. Non-EU Merchants and Import Duties

Merchants based outside the EU single market — for example, UK merchants post-Brexit, or Swiss and Norwegian merchants — are marked with a "Duties may apply" badge.

The total cost shown for these merchants does not include an estimate for import duties, as these vary by product type, value, and destination country. Buyers should verify applicable duties before ordering.

4. Reference Prices (EU Omnibus Directive)

When a merchant's current price is lower than the lowest price they offered in the previous 30 days, we display a reference price labelled "Lowest price in the last 30 days".

This is required by EU Directive 2019/2161 (the Omnibus Directive) for any promotional or sale price display.

5. No Geo-Blocking

PriceHunter never blocks, redirects, or restricts access to cross-border price information based on your location. This is in compliance with EU Regulation 2018/302 on unjustified geo-blocking.

Your country setting (used for shipping estimates) is a preference you control. It does not restrict which merchants or countries you can view.
